August 30: Chalk, a new web application
Chalk looks really cool. It's a collaboration tool built using Rails, and looks (from the little thumbnail screenshot) to have a stunning UI. For some reason though, I've not really seen anyone talking about it. I'm sure word will soon start to spread.
Some people in the comments on the Chalk blog have been comparing it to 37signals' forthcoming Writeboard application. When I spoke to Ryan from 37S at their workshop, he told me that Writeboard is very much focussed on text-based collaboration. Chalk, on the other hand, seems to have the fuctionality to share graphical stuff too. I might have this completely wrong, but to me it looks like the two applications are going in different directions. Still, I can't wait to see what it's like.
